Dr. Carlson practiced at WakeMed Hospital AHEC prior to joining WIMC in 2000. He acted as a clinical instructor and now associate professor at UNC School of Medicine as well. He received awards including the Physician in Home Care Award from WakeMed Hospital and the Chairman’s Award in Internal Medicine from UNC Hospitals. Dr. Carlson volunteers in the Wake County HIV Primary Care Planning Coalition, where he spoke on WRAL TV’s “Ask the Doctor.” He enjoys attending church with his wife and twins- giving the occasional sermon.
